Dana Dean, MA, LMHC holds a Masters in Counseling from Southwestern College in Santa Fe. Dana is a  Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and Complex Trauma Treatment Professional (CCTP-II). Dana is also trained through EMDRIA in EMDR, an approach that can be effective in alleviating trauma symptoms and other types of distress.

Dana had a previous career in finance for over 30 years before following her long-held desire to return to school and embark upon a career in a healing profession.  Dana’s own personal experiences with early life trauma and loss, family dysfunction, and close encounters with the struggles of beloved family and friends suffering from substance dependence and mental illness, led to many years of personal healing and growth work, and have forged in her a fierce compassion and dedication to the healing of suffering.

Dana believes that we all have a natural inclination toward healing and growth, and strives to help clients discover, strengthen, and trust their own capacity to become their best selves.  While this work together will include unique approaches for each individual, Dana believes that the most important ingredient for healing is the sense of safety, trust and connection between the therapist and client.

Dana strongly believes that the suffering we experience in life, once explored and healed in the presence of a safe, compassionate and experienced guide, can become our “super-power”.  Dana has had the benefit of such guides in her own life, and those powerful experiences have instilled the belief that healing and a greater sense of well-being is always possible. Dana thanks her beloved allies, guides and teachers for their love and support, and seeks to honor them by helping others as they have helped her.
